ZEND AVESTA OF ZARATHUSTRA

from the editor: The Zend Avesta of Zarathustra is the first Sacred Book and the most all-sided Encyclopedia in the history of mankind. It is more ancient than the Vedas of ancient India, the Book of Ching of ancient China. or the "Sentences of Amen Hotep" of ancient Egypt.

It is without question one of the greatest masterpieces of universal literature. Zarathustra drew on his intimate knowledge of nature to produce poetic images and analogies that are overwhelming in their spiritual power. But it is not only a work of art; it is a universal encyclopedia, with chapters dealing with astronomy, organic gardening, health, psychology, philosophy, and a whole range of vital subjects.

My translation of these excerpts is from the original Zend, and is not a re-translation of either Anquetil Du Perron, Max Muller, or Darmesteter.

While we have thousands of books about the other great philosophies of antiquity, there is practically nothing available about Zarathustra, with the exception of Nietzsche's "Thus Spake Zarathustra," which is pure fantasy. Only the Zend Avesta, in its original power and splendor, can give us an idea of the genius of Zarathustra, and bring to life for the modern reader the wisdom and intuition of a lost world.

This present volume, together with my books, "The Essene Book of Asha" and "Archeosophy, a New Science," form a trilogy of Zarathustrian philosophy,* which profoundly inspired the Essene teachings, which in turn influenced the entire western world. If these books of mine are able to kindle an interest in these great teachings, and more importantly, in their practical application, my efforts will be more than amply rewarded. -Edmond Bordeaux Szekely
