After the picturesque experiences of the first volume, HER-BAK, CHICKPEA, which unfolds young Her-Bak's training in the living school of Nature and in the Outer Temple, this second and independent volume presents his initiation into the Inner Temple and his progressive penetration of the esoteric aspects of the Egyptian Mystery teachings. The events related take place between the XX and XXI dynasties in the temple of Karnak which faces the Theban mountain whose peak dominates the Valley of the Kings. Her-Bak's story shows the evolution of one individual's life through the phases of temple training. By temple, we are to understand the entire structure of Egyptian science and wisdom, approached through the "intelligence of the heart. " The living temple is Man, as he embodies cosmic principles and functions. Through the teachings given by the Egyptian sages, he is led to knowledge of what we call salvation or redemption-the triumph over death.
This work is an authentic reconstruction of the sacred science and spiritual disciplines as taught in the temple of Karnak. Fifteen years' research in the temples and tombs of Egypt enabled the author to decipher the hidden meaning of hieroglyphic symbolism. The exceptional circumstances of her sojourn in Egypt, under the tutelage of her mentor and husband, R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz, placed the key in her possession.
The commentaries, available here in English for the first time, contain a systematic exposition of the metaphysical and psychological ideas woven throughout HER-BAK's narrative and yet can stand alone as a self-contained study of Egyptian teachings and their relationship to the esoteric traditions of other major world cultures. The aim of HER-BAK is to share with the reader this experience of initiation into the Mysteries of the Inner Temple.
