MUGWORT

General information: "Witches Flying Ointment," an herbal concoction producing psychedelic effects, was as still is used by Witches - on a night of the Full Moon, anoint your temples and Third Eye with a small amount of the flying ointment prior to astral projection or dream magick.

The main perception of the user is one of flight, astral projection, or out of body experience. Users tend to perceive themselves leaving their body, with complete freedom to travel within the physical or astral planes.

The herb is also known to be ingested by ritual smudge, in tea, smoked in a pipe or used as a topical salve.

Mugwort owes its properties principally to the essential oil it contains at levels between 0.02 to 2%(1). The composition of this oil has been recently studied (2); its principal constituents are cineol (or eucalyptol) with traces of thujone.

Medicinal uses for Mugwort were based on its stimulant and tonic properties in the nervous system, its stimulating effect on the uterus (for induction of menstruation, or in very large doses, abortion), and its diuretic and diaphoretic action. It also has a reputation as a hallucinogen.
